Education New Zealand partners with Dimension Data for cloud program

Opts for hybrid cloud environment for staff in 18 overseas locations

Education New Zealand is working with Dimension Data as it intensifies its move to a hybrid cloud environment.

“The hybrid model has the flexibility of having a fit for purpose on-premise solution, balanced with the cost-efficiencies of the cloud,” says Nick Halikias, Dimension Data NZ national sales manager.

Education New Zealand is responsible for business development and marketing New Zealand as an education destination for international students.

Dimension Data says the group, with head office in Wellington, is now set up to survive a catastrophic geographical data centre failure without disrupting the business in other locations.

“Through a series of operational contractual agreements, we are also able to relieve Education New Zealand of some pressure by sharing the risk and responsibility for challenges that occur within the IT environment, giving the organisation more capacity to get the job done,” Halikias says in a statement.

Dimension Data has deployed a Microsoft Private Cloud in its third and final phase of a program that focuses on securely improving the user experience of Education New Zealand’s employees in 18 overseas locations.

It says the first two phases of the program saw the complete transformation of the organisation’s IT infrastructure to improve governance and security to an appropriate government standard, while ensuring it is highly available to users, scalable and prepared for disaster recovery.
