Smith & Nephew chairman wins CFO award

Buchanan, currently chairman of world number four hip and joint maker, Smith & Nephew in the UK, has been recognised for his significant contribution to the New Zealand and international business community. He was honoured last night in advance of the 2012 New Zealand CFO Summit and Awards which will take place on 15 March in Auckland, run by Fairfax Media Business Group and Conferenz.
"I am very flattered and feel very fortunate to receive this award," says Buchanan. "While most of my work has been conducted overseas, I am still involved with a range of organisations here, including chairman of UK Trustees for the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. This involves stimulating ideas for UK fundraising and seeking to keep the Christchurch issue alive in the UK."

Southern Cross cable ups capacity and cuts prices

Southern Cross has announced the first 200 Gigabits of capacity from its latest upgrade is available at the same time as prices have been reduced by up to 44 percent.
Southern Cross also announced the deployment of 100 Gigabits per second transmission equipment by December this year.
