After years of planning, payroll service provider ADP in Australia is finally getting the type of business recovery infrastructure it needs. Thanks to declining costs for telecommunications services, ADP has been able to free itself from its dependence on back-up tapes by leasing a managed fibre link connecting its main office with a back-up site 20 kiometres away, which is managed by IBM Global Services.
When finished, that link will create a storage area network (SAN) including a pair of one-terabyte EMC CLARiiON storage arrays, providing continuous data back-up that will allow services to be rapidly restored should either site ever be compromised.
