    Clerk of the House CIO Deborah Braithwaite has been headhunted by IBM to run its project management office for the multi-million-dollar Joint Border Management System (JBMS). Braithwaite had earlier been Customs manager of information systems, for five years.

    Alan Hesketh has resigned as deputy director general, information directorate, National Health Board business Unit at the Ministry of Health.
    He is moving to Brisbane, Australia, where he will take on another executive role.

  • New CIO at TVNZ

    Peter Ennis is the new GM Technology at TVNZ, replacing Damian Swaffield who left in August and returned to business consultancy work.
    Ennis joined TVNZ in January 2009 as broadcast technology manager. Before that, he was director of operations and technology at TV3.

  • ANZ to revamp IT operations

    Australia and New Zealand Banking Group has foreshadowed a sweeping restructure of its A$768 million a year technology operations and management, cherry-picking a senior executive from the beleaguered Bank of Ireland to become its new chief information officer.
    ANZ chief executive Mike Smith said yesterday that the retail institution had hired career technologist Anne Weatherston to head a new technology division within the bank, a move that means responsibility for key systems will be transferred out of its existing operations and shared services group.

  • Commonwealth Bank loses key tech exec

    The most senior technology executive at Commonwealth Bank-owned Bankwest, chief information officer Tony Clasquin, has resigned and will leave at the end of the year.
    The bank will lose an experienced technology leader who has been in a key role as it seeks to achieve $340 million of operational savings following CBA's $2.1 billion acquisition of Bankwest from HBOS late last year.

    Channa Jayasinha is the new CIO of Ministry of Fisheries, replacing John Hanson.
    Prior to this, Jayasinha was chief technology officer for five years at the Ministry of Economic Development.

    Clive Martis is the new chief information officer of Massey University, effective 19 October.
    He replaces Gerrit Bahlman, who is now director of IT at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

  • BNZ exec appointed CIO of National Australia Bank

    The National Australia Bank has replaced its chief information officer Michelle Tredenick with Bank of New Zealand general manager of banking delivery services Adam Bennet following an executive restructure.
    Bennet previously served with recently appointed NAB chief executive Cameron Clyne in New Zealand.

  • Westpac group CIO bound for Singapore

    Westpac Banking Corporation's group chief information officer in Australia, Simon McNamara, has resigned.
    He plans to take up the CIO role with British bank Standard Chartered's global consumer banking business in Singapore.
